OPTOMAP
We have recently added the latest in eye health technology to our services, helping to improve the well-being of both children and adults alike, with the introduction of the Optos Optomap to our practice. This innovative technology can help detect serious health conditions like diabetes and hypertension early, offering a more detailed view of your eye health. With quick, non-invasive scans, optomap® captures four times more of the retina than traditional scans.

WHAT IS AN OPTOMAP?
The Optomap is a revolutionary scanning laser imaging system that allows opticians to capture detailed images of the eye, including the extreme peripheral areas of the retina.
This comprehensive scan provides a deeper and broader view of the eye’s internal structures, allowing for the early detection of serious conditions like macular degeneration, diabetes, and retinal issues such as tears, breaks, and detachments.

Traditional vs. Optomap Imaging: A New Era in Eye Care
Traditional retinal imaging captures just 15% of the retina, limiting the ability to detect potential issues. Optomap changes that by capturing 82% of the retina in a single image, providing a clearer and more comprehensive view of your eye health.
See More, Detect More
With Optomap, you get simultaneous views of the central, mid, and peripheral retina, helping eye care professionals spot early signs of diseases that could be missed with traditional methods.

WHY IS AN OPTOMAP IMPORTANT?
Accessibility to an Optomap scan can quite often be as vital as helping to save someone’s sight.

It also allows us to better track ongoing conditions and monitor any changes over time in much more depth. For both children and adults, this early detection can be a game-changer in preserving vision and managing eye health effectively.

For children, the Optomap technology is invaluable in detecting early signs of eye conditions that may not yet be presenting symptoms. It is particularly beneficial for those who may not express discomfort or show noticeable signs of eye strain.

In adults, it can help in managing age-related eye conditions, such as macular degeneration, and identifying other underlying health issues that might manifest in the eyes, such as high blood pressure or diabetes.
