SESSION 1
Comprehensive Dry Eye Consultation & Treatment Plan
This first session involves a detailed examination to assess the severity and underlying causes of your dry eye, followed by a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs.
- A detailed dry eye consultation/examination to determine the severity and cause through:
- A dry eye questionnaire
- A thorough assessment of the tear film and lid margins
- Assessment of the glands
2. A personalised treatment plan discussing options
including;
- Prescriptions for dry eye medication including
ointments and lubricants
- Activa heat mask treatment
- Tearstim IRPL treatment
SESSION 2
Ongoing Treatment and Symptom Review
Sessions 2 focuses on evaluating your progress, reviewing your symptoms, and continuing treatments like the Activa heat mask and Tearstim IRPL to provide lasting relief.

SESSION 3
Post-Treatment Review & Future Care

DIAGNOSING DRY EYE:
At Eyelink Opticians we have the latest-state-of-the-art equipment to diagnose dry eyes.
The IDRA has the capability to measure various components of the tear film and the structures of the eyelid.
• Fluorescein imaging

Activa Heat Mask:
Activa is a registered medical device that utilises a combination of heat and massage to address the dry eye. It works by gently heating the eyelids and applying micro-vibrations to help unblock the glands along the lid margin allowing the secretion of more oils. This helps to stabilise the tear film and prevent your tears from evaporating too quickly. Thus reducing the dryness and discomfort associated with dry eye.
Tearstim IRPL treatment:
This is a non-invasive and painless treatment that uses intense regulated pulsated light (IRPL) technology. It works by stimulating the nervous system to trigger the glands to produce more oils. It is a quick and easy treatment that requires the completion of 4 initial sessions to see long term results. Following this, the effects of the Tearstim can last up to 3 years, when maintained by an annual top up.
Further treatments:
Upon completion of the sessions, we will re-evaluate your dry eye and discuss a management plan for the future. To sustain the effects of the programme, our Optometrists may also prescribe bespoke eye preparations and/or oral medication to help maintain consistent and healthy tears. These further treatments are reviewed on a case by case basis, and are generally considered following completion of the programme.
